AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - Earl L. Taylor Sr. age 84 of Platt Road Watertown died December 26, 2009 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. He was the widow of Claire R. (Sutherland) Taylor.
Earl was born April 13, 1925 in Oakville, a son of the late Frank B. and Elizabeth C. (Thurnie) (Swanson) Taylor and was a lifelong Watertown resident. He was a graduate of Clarkson University in New York. Prior to his retirement Earl was employed as a mechanical engineering consultant, he had also worked at B.P. Aerospace in Bantam, Roy S. Sanford Co. in Oxford, the former B&B Plastics and the former Autowyre. He enjoyed collecting arrowheads, raising Mallard ducks and sheep and even built his own freshwater cabin cruiser which he often used at Lake George. Earl proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps as a pilot during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post 195 in Watertown.
He leaves a son Earl L. Taylor Jr. and his companion Susan Bridges of Watertown, a daughter Karen Taylor of Watertown, a brother LeRoy Taylor of Waterbury, a sister Gloria Traver of Deland, FL., and five nieces and nephews.
Funeral Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. For more information or to send an online condolence, kindly visit
