Mr. Eddie Wilmer Castro

WATERBURY – Eddie Wilmer Castro, age 58, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2023, at his home.

Eddie was born on February 17, 1965, Yauco, Puerto Rico the son of the late Emiliano Castro and Carmen Camacho. Eddie had a difficult start in life with his brothers but he loved swimming in competitions in Guánica, P.R. from port-to-port, winning 1st place many times. Later he moved to the United States and settled in Waterbury, CT, where he started working in factories and found his other passion in life, softball. He played on many teams until his found his place on the Belline’s Softball Club as pitcher and played faithfully until the team retired on their final trip to Puerto Rico in 2010. After, he discovered ATV’s and four track wheelers and the feeling of living life to the fullest returned. Any who came wanting to ride or discover new routes, he always welcomed, as he did in life with friends and family. He always had an open heart and positive attitude towards all. He humbly helped others without thinking until the end.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory is his lifelong partner, Awilda Morales, and his daughter, Melissa Castro, and his son, Eddie W Castro Jr. Also, his living siblings, sister, Aida, and his brothers, Emilio, Jose, Raymond, and Jamie. Plus, many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by not only his parents but his brother, Freddy Castro.

Funeral services for Mr. Castro will be held Monday, September 25th 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT 06705. Relatives and friends may visit Eddie’s family on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until the service commences at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be held privately and at the convenience of his family.
