Devoted Father and Grandfather
OAKVILLE – It is with profound sadness and grief that the family of Edmund Kasidas, age 83, announce his unexpected passing on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Hartford Hospital.
Ed was born on August 30, 1940, in Waterbury, the son of the late Albin and Frances (Simon) Kasidas. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Sacred Heart High School and Quinnipiac University. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS J. Douglas Blackwood. Ed worked his entire career at Winslow Manufacturing where he ultimately served as the General Manager. He was very active in the Watertown Area Association for Special Citizens and Special Olympics. He was especially proud of his manicured yard and lawn, but what was most important to Ed was his family. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to cherish his memory and honor Ed’s love and legacy are his daughters, Jennifer Lauer of Weston and Jessica Kasidas of Oakville; his grandchildren, Alexis and Austin Walt; and his sister, Jacqueline Girardey of Torrington as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Beverly Oliver and Carol O’Rourke.
Funeral Services for Mr. Kasidas will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury. Military honors will be accorded to Ed immediately following the service. Relatives and friends may visit with his family on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 12:30 p.m at the funeral home. Loving kindness is always welcome and memories last only if you share them, so we encourage you to leave a message of condolence, words of comfort, or a personal memory with the Kasidas family on Ed’s tribute page at
