SEYMOUR - Edna Hirbour age 74 of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 5, 2017 at the Shady Knoll Health Care Center in Seymour. She was the widow of John Peter Hirbour.

Edna was born on November 17, 1942 in Waterbury the daughter of the late James and Ethel (Johnson) Fitzmaurice. Edna was a graduate of Derby High School and spent most of her adult life in Waterbury. She was Teacher at St. Mary Magdalen School where she taught both middle school and second grade until she retired. She was an avid reader and was a generous and thoughtful person who was attached and devoted to her family. She was a true fan of Normal Rockwell and enjoyed the beach, specifically the Maine Coast.

Among his survivors are her children; her son John Jr and his wife Heather of Harwinton, her daughter, Cynthia Palmisano and her husband, Matthew of Seymour, her grandchildren; Nicolas, Caden, Elias and Sophia. She also leaves her sisters, Anne Hayes and Dorothea Czaplicki of Branford and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Hirbour will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 11:00am at First Congregational Church, West Main St Waterbury. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Following the funeral, all those attending are invited to attend a reception in Clinton Hall in her honor. There are no calling hours. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be made in Mrs. Hirbour's memory to Saint Mary Magdalene School in Oakville Connecticut.
