AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
Middlebury, CT Edward B. Griffin, age 88, of Middlebury, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 6th 2010 at the Paradigm Health Care Center of Prospect after an extended illness. He was the husband of Shirley (Gilmartin) Griffin.
Mr. Griffin was born June 19th 1922, in Waterbury, the son of the late Dennis and Margaret Griffin. He was a graduate of Saint Mary's Grammar School and Leavenworth High School. Mr. Griffin was a career firefighter with the City of Waterbury for 35 years as well as being a real estate owner and property manager before retiring. Following his retirement, he owned and operated Lynch Fire Extinguisher Co. He enjoyed sports and was avid Boston Red Sox and Notre Dame fan. He was a former parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Waterbury and more recently a member and communicant of Saint John of the Cross, in Middlebury.
Besides his wife of 64 years he is survived by his son, Gregory Griffin of Key West FL, two daughters, Jacquelyn and her husband David Brisson of Wayland, MA. and Debra Pelletier of Wolcott. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Daniel, Scott, Christopher and Emily Pelletier, and Derek, Jared, and Evan Brisson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mr. Griffin is predeceased by his siblings, James, Frank, Thomas, John, and Joe Griffin, Margaret (Peg) Kellner, and Helen Hector.
Funeral Services for Mr. Griffin will be held on Friday, December 10th, 2010 at 12:00pm from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home to Saint John of the Cross Church, 13212 Whittemore Rd. Middlebury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7:00 till 9:00pm. and on Friday morning from 11:00am till 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mr. Griffin's memory may be made to The National Parkinsons Foundation at 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509
