AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME Waterbury - Mr. Edward J. Mariano, age 87 of Carver St. Waterbury died Monday at the Cheshire House Nursing Center, Waterbury after a brief illness. He was the widower of Grace (Marafino) Mariano who passed away in 1985.

Edward was born in Beacon Falls CT on July 8, 1921, the son of the late Jake and Mary (Smith) Mariano. He attended Naugatuck High School and was a Veteran of the US Navy, having proudly served his country during World War II. He was employed for many years at Uniroyal Footwear, Naugatuck. He was a member of the Naugatuck VFW Crusader Post #946, Naugatuck BPOE, Lodge of Elks #967 and an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Edward was a very proud American and was always sure to purchase and support products "Made in the U.S.A.". He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Waterbury.

Edward is survived by three children, his son, Richard of Bethel and two daughters, Dr. Sandra Alfano and her husband Joseph of Hamden and Carol Miller of Waterbury. He also leaves two grandchildren, Christopher and Jessica Alfano. His brother Robert and sister Barbara Perugini both of Naugatuck are deceased

Funeral services with Full Military Honors for Mr. Mariano will be held on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 9:30am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St Waterbury to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church 785 Highland Ave Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday February 5, 2009 from 5 ?" 7pm. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of in Mr. Mariano may be made the American Cancer Society 1075 Chase Parkway Waterbury, CT 06708.
