WATERBURY - Edward "Eddie" Monteiro age 56 of Waterbury passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on June 3, 2016 after a brief illness. He is the husband of Diane Pinho Monteiro of 19 years.
Eddie was born December 8, 1959 in Chaves, Portugal the son of Gloria (Antunes) Monteiro of Waterbury and the late Baltazar Monteiro. He worked for many years as a supervisor at the Sealy Mattress Corporation. Eddie will be remembered for his love of family, traveling, card playing, tournament pool games, the Boston Red Sox, Sporting Club of Portugal and spending time at the Portuguese Sport Club of Waterbury.
Besides his wife and mother, Eddie leaves his four brothers Manuel Jorge Monteiro of FL., Artur Monteiro of Waterbury, Abilio Monteiro of Waterbury and Jose Carlos Monteiro of Naugatuck, two sisters Maria Graca Monteiro of Portugal and Isabel Monteiro of Waterbury. His mother and father-in-law John and Maria Luiza Pinho Jr., of Waterbury and his brother-in-law John Pinho of Shelton. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Katoch and the entire staff of the Harold Leever Cancer Center for their Kindness.
Funeral services for Mr. Monteiro will be held on Tuesday June 7, 2016 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St. Waterbury at 10:30 a.m. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with the Monteiro family on Monday evening from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd, Waterbury. In lieu of flowers to honor Eddie's memory, donations to a Scholarship Fund to be established in the near future or the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708.
