THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF NED TAYLOR Jr.
WATERBURY - Mr. Edward "Ned" J. Taylor Jr. age 69 of Waterbury, passed away on Friday December 8th 2017 at Shady Knolls Health Care Center in Seymour, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Judith A. (Zabbara) Taylor

Ned was born on November 22, 1948 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Edward J. and Mary (Byrnes) Taylor. He was a graduate of Saints Peter and Paul Grammar School, Kennedy High School and Mattatuck Community College "cum laude". Ned proudly served his country as a Sergeant with the US Army and was part of the combat infantry in Vietnam. While serving in the Armed Forces, he was the recipient of several awards and citations including, the Bronze Star and Accommodation Medal. In 1979, Ned began working for the United States Postal Service where he worked as a Postal Clerk until his retirement in 2009. After retiring, Ned worked at the Postal Credit Union as a loan officer for several years. He was a member of the Naugatuck/ Waterbury V.F.W. Post 201 and was an active member of the Wolcott Lions Club and served as the former union steward, President and Vice President of the Postal Union. Ned had a passion for golfing and love spending time at East Mountain Golf Course. He was an avid fan of the UCONN Basketball, Boston Red Sox and NY Giants and always enjoyed his trips to Aruba with his friends. What Ned cherished the most in life was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandson Michael. Ned will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Besides his wife Judi of 49 years, Ned is survived by his son, Steven Taylor and his wife, Cindy of Roxbury as well as his grandson, Michael in addition to several brother-in laws, sister-in laws, nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Marilyn (Telles) Maille.

The Taylor family would like to thank and acknowledge the doctors, nurses and staff at Shady Knolls especially everyone on the second floor for the loving comfort and compassionate care they provided to Ned during his illness. As well as Dr. Victor Chang from the Harold Leever Cancer Center, the VA Hospital in West Haven and VITAS Healthcare.

Funeral services for Mr. Taylor will be held on Monday, December 18th 2017 at 9:30 AM from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd, Waterbury, CT to Our Lady of Lourdes Church 309 South Main St Waterbury when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury, Relatives and friends may visit with Ned's family on Sunday, December 17th from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the funeral home.
