Edward Francis Sweeney Jr.

August 17, 1965 — September 21, 2009

AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - Edward Francis Sweeney, Jr., age 44, of Bassett Road in Watertown died peacefully on Monday at his home, outdoors in the early morning sun, surrounded by his loving family. After a lifelong struggle with the complications of hemophilia, Eddie could not overcome his recent struggle with cancer. Deanne E. (Clampett) Sweeney was the love of his life and sons Matthew Edward Sweeney and Jesse Ian Kirk were his pride and joy.

Eddie was born August 17, 1965 in Waterbury, the first son of Edward and Elizabeth (Kerwin) Sweeney, Sr. A shining example of a life well lived, he was a graduate of Watertown High School. He was most recently employed at Woodlake Inc. in Woodbury. Eddie's most cherished times were spent outdoors walking the woods and exploring the waters of Connecticut with family and friends. He passed on his own father's love of hunting and fishing to his sons. His father and son Matthew were most often found at his side sharing his obsession with the outdoors. While Long Island Sound and the woodlands of Connecticut were his truest place of worship, he was also a member of St. John the Evangelist Church.

Blessed by Eddie's presence in their lives he will be deeply missed by his sister Elizabeth A. Bueso and husband Nelson of Roslindale, MA; brother Martin J. Sweeney and wife Julie of Waxhaw, NC; brother Luke M. Sweeney of Sanibel, FL; and sister Margaret M. Nielsen and husband Eric of Marshfield, MA. His nephews and nieces, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends, both lifelong and new, will always remember a courageous, loving, talented, passionate and driven young man.

Funeral Thursday at 9 a.m. from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street Oakville to Saint John the Evangelist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the O'Neill Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the New England Hemophilia Association, 347 Washington Street, Suite 402, Dedham, MA 02026.
