THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF EDWIN A. CLASSEY
WATERBURY - Edwin "Ed" A. (Bumpa) Classey age 84 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2018 at The Vitas Innovative Care Unit at Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Shirley (Jacobson) Classey.
Mr. Classey was born on March 26, 1934 in Waterbury, the son of the late George and Marion (Hart) Classey. He was a graduate of Naugatuck High School and proudly served his country with the United State Navy aboard the USS Soley and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for Meritorious Service. Ed was the owner and operator of Capitol Plumbing and Heating of Plantsville for many years. A proud American "Made in the U.S.A." was very special to Ed. He cherished his family, loved a good time, especially when surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time in Vermont with family and friends. Proud of his Irish heritage, he enjoyed listening to Irish music. He will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
His wife and family wishes to thank and acknowledge his physician, Dr. Edmund Caporaso, and his exceptional staff as well as the dedicated professionals at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Marys Hospital, for the care and compassion they shared with Ed and his entire family.
Besides his loving wife of 59 years, Ed leaves his children; Mary Beth Stone and her husband, Mark of Watertown, Brenda Corbo of Watertown, Carolyn Cancellaro and her husband, Dominic of Watertown and Timothy Classey and his wife, Lynne of Woodbury. He also leaves his brother, Arnie and his 11 grandchildren; Brianna, Kyle, Grace, Christopher, Chelsey, Carley, Dante, Nicholas, Michael, Erin and Sean. He was predeceased by his brother, George.
Funeral services with Full Military Honors will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church 309 South Main St Waterbury. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may visit with Ed's family on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705. To honor Ed's memory, donations may be made to Vitas Innovative Care 199 Park Rd Ext .. Middlebury CT 06762..
