Enjoyed a life well-lived
WATERBURY – Eleanor (Briggs) Crean, age 96, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Complete Care at Glendale Nursing Home.
Eleanor was born on October 11th, 1927, in Waterbury CT, the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Monahan) Briggs. She was raised in Waterbury, where she graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School. At the age of 21 she married Thomas P. Crean and had three children. After divorcing Eleanor went to work for Timex Corp. as a factory worker and supervisor until her retirement. She also worked part time as a makeup and skincare sales representative for Revlon at G. Fox & Company – a job she truly enjoyed. Eleanor was always full of life, she enjoyed dancing, going out with friends, music, painting and sketching, artwork, animals of all kinds, and time spent by the ocean. Eleanor was a parishioner and past altar guild member of St. John’s Episcopal Church on the green in Waterbury. What brought the greatest joy to Eleanor’s life was spending time with her family, especially for holidays and celebrations. She will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her daughter, Patricia Crean Daniels, her son, Thomas P. Crean Jr. (Kathy), and son-in-law Jeffrey Stone. Her grandchildren: Susan Bartolotta (Sebastian), Michael Stone, Thomas Crean (Jennifer), Jennifer Douville (Mike), Christian Daniels, and Ally Daniels; three great grandchildren: Olivia Bartolotta, Isabella Bartolotta, and Hailey Douville, along with extended family and friends. Eleanor was predeceased by her daughter, Carol Stone, and her brother, William Briggs Jr.
The family extends their appreciation to the staff who enjoyed working with Eleanor at Glendale Center.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Crean will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 16 Church Street, Waterbury. Directly following the funeral service Eleanor will be interred in the columbarium at the Church. Casey’s Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury has been honored to assist the Crean family during this difficult time. There are no calling hours.
