Beloved Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother
OAKVILLE – Eleanor P. Guerrera, age 97, of Oakville, formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at the Lutheran Home of Southbury on Saturday, June 10, 2023, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after an extended illness. She was the widow of the late Peter P. Guerrera.
Eleanor was born May 2, 1926, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late John and Nicolina (Perugini) Pesce. She was a graduate of Wilby High School and spent many years living in Waterbury, prior to moving to Oakville. Eleanor worked as a CNA healthcare provider at the former Waterbury Convalescent Center prior to her retirement and also cared for her husband during his illness. Eleanor was a voracious reader, a die-hard New York Yankees fan, and enjoyed following NASCAR racing. What brought the greatest joy to Eleanor was caring for her family whether it was her husband, children, or especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eleanor was exceptional in almost every way and was a foundation of joy to her family, but she excelled at being a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Our family thanks you, Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, she was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children; Peter J. Guerrera and his wife, Jean of Watertown, Maryann Savo and her husband, Andy of Hudson, FL, and Julie Guerrera and her husband, Angelo of Waterbury. Eleanor was blessed with four grandchildren; Peter, Michael, Kristan, and Nicole as well as four great-grandchildren, Adriana, Giovanni, Marisa, and Dante as well as several nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings; Olga Perazzini, and Genero Pesce.
