REMEMBERING AND HONORING THE LIFE OF ELEANOR McNAMARA

WATERBURY - Mrs. Eleanor (Coleman) McNamara died peacefully on April 19th, 2022, in her home in Waterbury, CT. She was the beloved wife of the late John L. McNamara.

Eleanor was born on May 27, 1922, in Waterbury where she lived all her life. She was the daughter of the late Harold Coleman and the late Mary Phelan Coleman. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She met the love of her life while taking a secretarial program at Wilby High School where John attended. While John was serving his country during WW II as a naval medic, Eleanor traveled to Los Angeles while he was on leave to marry him. As a young secretarial graduate, she worked at the American Brass Company until John returned home. Shortly after his return they decided to have a family. At that point she stayed home to raise their family. As her two young girls grew, Eleanor rejoined the labor force as an administrative assistant at Tinker School, a position that she held for 30 years. Eleanor kept busy with her "card group", Ladies Guild and became a Girls Scout leader for many years.

She and John were parishioners of Blessed Sacrament Church and were proud Waterburians. Eleanor leaves behind her daughter, Joan McNamara Jannelli, two granddaughters, Erica Jannelli and Elizabeth Bannon Mack along with a great grandson, Jamie Mack. She is pre-deceased by her daughter Judith McNamara Bannon and her two brothers Harold and Richard Coleman.
