AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - Waterbury Mrs. Eleanore (Shea) Murphy of Waterbury, died unexpectedly on Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was the wife of Francis X. Murphy Sr.
Mrs. Murphy was born on May 9th in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Thomas and Rose (MacKay) Shea. Eleanore was a lifelong resident of Waterbury and graduate of Crosby High School. Her life's work and passion was raising her eight children and assuring them and their families strengthened the family bond that she and her husband instilled. Once her own children were grown, Eleanore worked as a salesperson at Casual Corner. She was a devout Catholic and member of SS Peter & Paul Church.
Besides her husband of 69 years, Eleanore leaves two daughters, Jill Maunsell and her husband Michael and Judith Lawlor and her husband Michael, five sons, David Murphy, Bruce Murphy, Christopher Murphy and his wife Doreen, Keith Murphy and Todd Murphy and his wife Mary-Jo. Eleanore also leaves a daughter-in-law Mary Ann Murphy, 16 devoted grandchildren, Shawn, Jill, Brian, Erin, Chris, Paige, Michael, David, Ryan, Allison, Gretchen, Michael, Devin, Kyle, Molly and John as well as 20 great grandchildren. Eleanore carried in her heart, the cherished memory of her beloved son, Sandy Murphy and daughter-in-law Donna Murphy, who both passed on recently.
Funeral services for Mrs. Murphy will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012. Those planning to attend are requested to go directly to SS. Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury to Celebrate the Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30a.m. Rites of Committal and Interment are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted to assist the Murphy family with arrangements.
