THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF Elias Karam

WATERBURY - Elias A. Karam, 83, of Waterbury, passed away on Sunday September 13, 2020, unexpectedly at Waterbury Hospital. He was surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Elias was the widower of Leila (Gharfine) Karam.

Elias was born in Beirut, Lebanon on July 7th 1937. Mr. Karam is the son of the late Antoine and Kathrina (Moussoud) Karam. Elias survived the civil war in Lebanon and continued to run his tailoring business until he followed his sister Violette Ayoub and immigrated to the United States in 1981. He settled in Waterbury, with his family, where he lived and worked as a Tailor for 39 years. Elias was known for being a devoted family man and an incredible grandfather (Jedo). He's also remembered for his remarkable work ethic up until his retirement at the age of 73. Elias has always been a fighter and after his retirement fought all the way back from a nearly debilitating illness to walk, drive, and even teach his granddaughter Chloe how to drive. Not only did he master walking and driving again, but also he managed to get back to his daily exercise routine at local gyms. Elias could often be found at Our Lady of Lebanon Church or at the Ehden Lebanese Club with his close friends. Sunday lunch or dinner was always a special time for Elias, where he would bring out his special batch of marinated hot peppers for the Tabouli or Kibbe.

Left to honor Elias's love and legacy are his daughter Vola Balikian and her husband Sarkis of Waterbury and their children Chloe, Lucas, and Jacob, and his son Tony Karam and his wife Gina of Watertown and their children, Stephan, Teyo, and Giana. Elias is also survived by his sister Violette Ayoub of Watertown and his beloved nieces and nephews, Noha Karam, Pierre Karam, Paul Ayoub, Nada Zarrini, George Ayoub and their families. He is predeceased by his brother George Karam.

Services for Mr. Karam will be held on Wednesday September 16th 2020 at Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 8 East Mountain Rd. in Waterbury for a service of the Holy Mmysteries of Christian Burial. Relatives and friends may visit with Mr. Karam's family during the calling hour on Wednesday morning from 9:00am until the time of the funeral service at 10:00am.
