Beloved husband, father and grandfather
WATERTOWN, CT – Elias Taweh age 60, of Waterbury, a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and brother, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 15th 2024 at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Raghida (Imad) Taweh.
Elias was born July 1st, 1964, in Lebanon, the son of Nadia (Tahtouh) and the late Michael Taweh. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1984 and settled in Connecticut in 1987. Elias was a cherished member of the Waterbury Lebanese community and volunteered many hours at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Church, where he was a communicant and was often found in Cedar Hall's kitchen. A man of great skill and dedication, he dedicated his life to various endeavors, from owning and operating three Donut World locations throughout the Hartford County area and more recently worked as a skilled contractor working alongside his brother George. Elias possessed a remarkable talent for grilling and cooking, known for his mastery in preparing delicious Lebanese cuisine that brought joy and satisfaction to all who tasted his creations. He delighted in sharing his culinary gifts with friends and family, often being called upon to cater events and celebrations, spreading smiles with every dish he prepared. Elias will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor his memory and legacy, besides his wife, of 37 years, Raghida are his children; Michael Taweh and his wife Kelly and their son Lucas of Danbury, his daughter, Maria Taweh of Waterbury, his brothers; George Taweh and his wife, Lena of Farmington, Ziad Taweh of Brookfield, his sisters; Isabelle Bolton and her husband, Steve of Plainville, Giselle Taweh and her husband, George Cheike of Farmington as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Taweh will be held on Saturday, September 21st, 2024, when a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Church, 8 East Mountain Rd. Waterbury, CT 06706. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Elias’s family at the church on Friday evening from 4:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been honored to care for Elias and the Taweh family during this most difficult time.
