Waterbury - Elizabeth (Quinn) (Kennedy) Ahearn, 102 , of Keefe St Waterbury passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening at home, surrounded by her family . She was the widow of John J. Kennedy and W. Raymond Ahearn.
Elizabeth was born on December 16, 1910 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Henry and Anne (Healy) Quinn . She was a lifelong Waterbury resident and a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. She worked for many years as the Department Manager of Grand Union. She was an avid and accomplished bowler and a longtime member of the Universal Bowling League. Elizabeth was a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church and was a member of the Ladies Guild there. Even until her final day of this earth she was vibrant and witty and singing with her family. She will be sadly missed and always remembered.
She is survived by her son, Francis T. Kennedy and his wife Barbara of Oakville, her two daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Goggin of Prospect and Nancy Lass of Terryville. She also leaves a sister, Emily Malinowski of Southington, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Michael Goggin brothers; William Henry John and Thomas and sisters; Bridget, Mary, Ann & Gertrude and sons-in-law Michael "Bibber" Goggin and Lee Lass. The family would like to share special thanks and appreciation to Elizabeth's special friend and caregiver, Slava for the many years of care, assistance and friendship she shared with Elizabeth.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Ahearn will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30am at St. Francis Xavier Church 625 Baldwin St Waterbury. Those planning on attending are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
