THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF ELIZABETH AHRENS
WATERBURY - Elizabeth Ahrens age 84 of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at Saint Mary's Hospital on Friday August 17, 2018 after a brief illness. She was the widow of Raymond F. Ahrens.
Elizabeth born November 22nd 1933 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late James and Anne (Taylor) Roberton and was raised by her Aunt and Uncle, Elizabeth and Frank Caputo. Elizabeth was a lifelong Waterbury resident, graduated from Sacred Heart High School and worked for the City of Waterbury School System as a Public Heath Aide for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling and shopping and was always happiest when surrounded by her loving family, especially her grandchildren. She was a parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Church.
Among her survivors are her children; Raymond R. Ahrens of Waterbury, Ann Fruin and her husband, Mark of Waterbury, Lori Diorio and her husband, Manny of Wolcott, and Jean Murphy of Waterbury. She also leaves her cousin, Charles Taylor, with whom she was raised and considered him to be like her brother. She also leaves her grandchildren, Carolyn, Melissa, Angela, Manny Jr. Elizabeth, Rhiana, Matthew, Amanda, and Alyssa.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ahrens will be held on Wednesday August 22nd at 10:30 am from Casey's Eastside Memorial Home 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury to Saints Peter & Paul Church, 167 Southmayd Rd, Waterbury when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Committal services will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Elizabeth's family on Tuesday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
