Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother

Waterbury- Mrs. Elizabeth "Bette" Bergin, 91, of Waterbury, CT passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, May 31, 2020. She was the widow of Charles F. Bergin, who was a former principal in the Waterbury school system.

Mrs. Bergin was born in Waterbury in 1929 where she lived most of her life. She was employed by the city of Waterbury as a paraprofessional in various schools for 23 years. Bette was a member of the Cha-Rum-Bo Ballroom Dance Club for 24 years. She was an active member of the Waterbury Senior Center where she enjoyed taking classes and visiting with her friends. She took great joy and pride in her family, especially her many great-grandchildren. She was known for her loyalty, generosity, and concern for others. During her lifetime, she enjoyed roller skating, dancing, and painting. Her love of beauty was reflected in her artwork, and her thoughtfulness was evident in the many cards and letters she loved to send and receive. She will be lovingly remembered as an active, strong, independent woman who loved spending time with her family and friends.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Sharon McClintock and her husband Frank of Litchfield and Noreen Parent and her husband Roland of Waterbury; her sons, Daniel Bergin and his wife Grace of Bristol and Scott Bergin and his wife Mina of Tampa, FL; her brother, Theodore Johnson and his wife Barbara of Los Angeles, CA and her sisters, Margaret Kozlowski of Raleigh, NC and Barbara Becker of Wallingford, CT. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, 15 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.

Due to government restrictions, a private viewing and memorial service, limited to the immediate family will be held at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, @ SouthMayd Rd, Waterbury, CT from 5:00 pm until 6:00pm on Friday, June 5th, 2020. A live stream will be webcast on www.facebook.com/eastsidememorial . AT 6:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, Bette requested that memorial contributions may be made in her honor to a charitable organization of the donor's choice or to the Greater Waterbury Campership Fund 389 Meadow St. Waterbury CT 06722. Casey's Eastside Memorial has been honored to assist her family during this most difficult time.
