Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother
CHESHIRE – Elizabeth “Betty” Hayes age 88 formerly of Oakville, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of her family at Elim Park Nursing Facility on Friday, September 1st 2023. She was the widow of George Hayes.
Betty was born November 8 1934 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Thomas and Katherine (Dillon) Novorot. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High and spent many years working as an assembler for Hamilton Standard before retiring. Betty enjoyed playing BINGO and cards and was an avid UConn Women’s Basketball and Red Sox fan and was a long-time parishioner of Saint Mary Magdalen Church. There was nothing more important to Betty than her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was extremely proud of all of them and was constantly talking about them and their accomplishments and was always happiest while spending time with them, especially while making her famous giant meatballs together. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children; Daniel Hayes and his wife, Maria of Plantsville, and Stephen Hayes and his wife, Paula of Oakville. She also leaves her adoring grandchildren; Jennifer, Kaitlyn, and Robert James as well as her great-grandchildren, Mia, Bella, Cameron, and Lola. She was predeceased by her daughter, Catherine Hewins and her brothers; Jack and James Novorot.
