AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
Waterbury, CT. Mrs. Elizabeth S. "Betty" O'Connell age 80, of DeCicco Rd. Waterbury and Venice Florida, passed away unexpectedly at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington surrounded by her loving husband and daughters. She was the wife of Lawrence O'Connell.
Mrs. O'Connell was born December 24th 1930 in Cheshire, CT, the daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Metzler) Roberts. She was a graduate of Wilby High School and attended Post Junior College. She was a longtime employee of Scovill Manufacturing, where she worked as a secretary until her retirement. Betty enjoyed traveling and spending her winters at their home in Venice, Florida. She had traveled to Ireland several times and also enjoyed taking cruises with her husband. Her other hobbies included, word search puzzles, dancing, and spending time with her family, watching sporting events like figure skating and horse racing. Most importantly she enjoyed being with her beloved grandchildren and great granddaughter.
Besides her husband Lawrence of 51 years, Betty is survived by her two daughters; Helen Cudney of Waterbury, and Barbara Styles of Wolcott, her grandchildren, Christopher ,Amy, and Heather Cudney and Kaitlyn Styles as well as her great granddaughter Cyncere Stephens, and her nephew, Thomas Brennan. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Dorothy Brennan.
Funeral services for Mrs. O'Connell will be held on Tuesday, October 11th, 2011 at 10:30 am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St. Waterbury, to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:30am. till 10:30 am. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association 5 Brookside Drive Wallingford Center, CT 06492.
