Devoted to her family
WATERBURY – Mrs. Elizabeth M. OBrien, age 89, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Abbott Terrace Nursing Home, after an extended illness. She was the widow of Eugene OBrien.
Mrs. OBrien was born in Waterbury on February 19, 1934, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth “Ethel” (Dillon) Lackey. She was educated in local schools and worked for many years in various positions, most recently at the Sheraton Hotel in Waterbury. She was a simple woman who enjoyed watching soap operas, long walks, and was a devoted Elvis fan. Most of all she treasured time spent with her family, especially her great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all, especially QVC whose volume will be drastically affected by Elizabeth’s passing.
Left to honor her memory and cherish her legacy are her daughters; Colleen OBrien of Waterbury, and Elizabeth Duncan and her husband, Gary, of TN. She also leaves her grandchildren, Robert OBrien and his wife, Cassandra, Kyra Coelho and her husband, Todd, Shelby Lee, Kevin Burgio and his wife, Amanda, Amy Wright, Raymond Bushey and his wife, Ashley, and Krystle Bushey, 16 great grandchildren, and her special friend, John Bly Jr. Elizabeth was predeceased by a daughter, Bernice Burgio.
Funeral services for Mrs. OBrien will be held on Sunday December 17, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with the OBrien family on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until the service at 4:30 p.m.at the funeral home. Committal services for Elizabeth will take place on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. directly at New Pine Grove Cemetery.
