SOUTHBURY - Mrs. Eloise ( Meehan) Gunnoud, age 84 of Southbuy, formerly of Heritage Village and Pompono Beach FL, passed away peacefully on her birthday, Sunday, June 22, 2014 surrounded by the love and comfort of her family at the Hearth of Southbury after an extended illness. She was the widow of Thomas E. Gunnoud Jr. who passed away in 2005.
Mrs. Gunnoud was born on June 22, 1930 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late James and Mary (Brennan) Meehen. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Elosie worked at Timex in Middlebury and was Director of Personnel for Waterbury Thinsheet Metals. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and a grandmother which she did with great style and grace. She was active in her condo association in Pompono Beach and she was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Southbury.
She is survived by her sons; Thomas III of Boston, Robert of Port St. Lucie FL, Martin of Southbury, James of Sharpsburg GA and Christopher of Woodbury and her 7 grandchildren, whom she adored. She also leaves a brother, George Meehan of Thousand Oaks CA and a sister, Mary Berry of Miami FL. and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, James and Edward Meehan.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Gunnoud will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Main St. Southbury. Those planning to attend are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Friends and relatives may visit with Eloise's family on Friday evening at the Sacred Heart Church Daily Chapel from 4:00 till 7:00 pm.
