Loving wife who enjoyed golf

WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Emily V. Pettit, age 80, of Waterbury, shares the news of her peaceful passing surrounded by the love and comfort of her family on January 16th, 2025 at the VITAS Hospice Unit of St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the wife of James R. Pettit, her devoted husband of 38 years.

Emily was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on September 20th, 1944, the daughter of the late Victor and Frances (Assenza) Carangelo. Emily worked for many years as an Office Manager in the Clerical Field. Emily's heart belonged not only to her work but also to her many passions. Emily and her husband, James, shared their love for golf. Together, they created countless memories on the greens of many courses in Boston, Vermont, and the Poconos. Remarkably, Emily excelled at golfing without ever taking a single lesson. She also enjoyed going on cruises and visiting countless casinos, especially the ones in Atlantic City. Although she had other passions, she loved nothing more than spending time with her soulmate and beloved husband.

Left to cherish her memory and honor her legacy besides her loving husband, are her sister; Jean Perugini of Knoxville, TN, her nephews; Marc Loffredo and his wife Becca of Knoxville, TN and Steven Perugini of Fishkill, NY, Christopher Lokis of Illinois, her nieces; Carolyn Lokis and her son, Mason Lopez of Waterbury, Mary Nazario, her husband, Jonathan and their children; Jeanelisse, Marissa and Cameron of Waterbury, her great niece; Madelynne Slone and her husband Spencer and their son Payton of Waynesville, North Carolina. Emily enjoyed special friendships with; Annie Arreola and her daughter; Lorri Caldarella and her daughter. Sophia and her very best friend, Santino Caldarella of Woodbury with whom she enjoyed a special bond. Emily and Santino will always remember and cherish their many trips to Walmart. Emily also leaves many other friends and extended family members.

The Pettit family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury 06705. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Loving kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence, words of comfort, or share a memory with the family and friends of someone important to you.
