Waterbury ?"Emma (Sharkey) Wilkas, age 81, formerly of Cocoa Beach Florida and Waterbury, died Sunday at Abbott Terrace Health Center after a long illness.
Emma was born on July 3, 1927 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late James P. and Mary (Burke) Sharkey. She was educated in local schools and spent her years as a loving mother and homemaker. She returned to Waterbury, several years ago having lived in Cocoa Beach, Florida. While residing in Cocoa Beach she was a member of "Our Savior R.C. Church" where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Emma is survived by a son, James Wilkas of Rocky Hill CT, her daughter-in-law Carol Wilkas of Bristol, two grandchildren, Monica Morgan and Daniel Macary and 2 great grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces and nephews including, Mrs. Barbara Bannon and Mrs. Millie Kelley who cared for Aunt Emma during her final years. She was predeceased by her former husband, Daniel Wilkas and a son, Daniel Wilkas
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilkas will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 11:00am at the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St Waterbury CT.
