WATERBURY - Eriberto Martinez age 73 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully Thursday December 11th 2014 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Josefina (Rodriguez) Martinez
Eriberto was born March 16, 1941 in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico the son of the late Marcelino and Juana (Medina) Martinez. Prior to his retirement he spent many years working for Anchor Fastener as a machine operator. He was an active member of Sacred Heart "Sagrado Corazon" Church in Waterbury where he was a member of the Caballero Colon Club. He enjoyed playing the guitar and loved spending the holidays surrounded by his friends and family. Eriberto never passed up the opportunity to play a practical joke on someone but always maintained a laid back, easy going personality that gave him the ability to make everyone feel good.
Besides his wife of 53 years Josefina, Mr. Martinez is survived by his sons, Angel Martinez, Eriberto Martinez, and Elieser Martinez all of Waterbury and Miguel Martinez of FL, his daughter, Evelyn Torres of Wolcott; as well as several brothers and sisters, twenty grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister.
Funeral services for Mr. Martinez will be held on Thursday, December 18th at 9:30am when a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Sagrado Corazon Church 13 Wolcott St. Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Rites of committal will follow in New Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Eriberto's family on Wednesday evening from 5:00 ~ 8:00 p.m. at Eastside Memorial, "A CASEY FAMILY FUNERAL HOME AND TRIBUTE CENTER", 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd.
