BORN IN GERMANY

NAUGATUCK - Ermegarde Anna Longo age 83, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 7th 2022 at Beacon Brook Health Care Center of Naugatuck, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after an extended illness. She was the former wife of Edward DaSilva Sr. and widow of Rocco Longo.

Erma was born January 15th 1939 in Germany, the daughter of the late Helmut and Anna (Martin) Scheiba. She emigrated to the United States in 1945, settling in Naugatuck. Erma was a loving and dedicated homemaker and worked as a nurse's aide at Saint Mary's Hospital for several years after raising her family. Erma was a constant care giver, the matriarch of her family and was always happiest while spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. Erma also enjoyed gardening with her daughter Marilyn, spending time outdoors, and loved the time she spent living in Hutchinson Island Fl where she enjoyed spending her day by the ocean.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her 3 sons; Edward DaSilva and his wife, Bonnie of Prospect, Michael DaSilva and his wife, Michele of Torrington, Ronald DaSilva and his partner, Angela Koufopoulos of New Britain, her 3 daughters; Marilyn Deal and her husband, Mark of Naugatuck, Diane DaSilva of Waterbury and Luiza DaSilva and her partner, Bob Skrip of Bethany. She also leaves her sister, Hilda Quint of Prospect and her 3 grandchildren; Mark Deal Jr and Crystal Deal, and Lukas DaSilva. She was predeceased by her brothers; Bruno and Henry Scheiba.

Funeral services for Mrs. Longo will be held on Thursday, February 10th 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will be held privately, at the convenience of her family. Relatives and friends may visit with Erma's family on Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. We continue to remain very concerned about the ongoing pandemic so masks will be required during all indoor services regardless of your current vaccination status.
