Waterbury – It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of Evelyn “Cookie” (Wachtel) Ahmetaj announces her passing on Sunday, March 18, 2024, at the Cheshire House Rehabilitation Center. She was 81.
Cookie was born July 24, 1942, in Waterbury, CT and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Isabelle (Bauzas) Endrickis. She worked over 30 years as a physical therapist and enjoyed spending time with family. She enjoyed the companionship of her roommate, Valerie Tumulis. The family is thankful for the love and support given to Cookie by Valerie and the staff at the Cheshire House.
Left to honor her memory and cherish her legacy are her children, Deborah Thibodeau of Plainville, Diane Affhauser and her husband, Earl, of Waterbury, Douglas Wachtel of Winsted, and Denise Cooke and her husband, Bill, of Waterbury. She also leaves 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Cookie will be held privately at the convenience of her family. There are no calling hours.
