AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - ?" F. Donald Krantz, 92, died on Monday, February 9th at his home in Bethlehem. He was the husband of Lillian (Dwyer) Krantz.
Donald was born on March 31, 1916, a son of the late Frank O and Lillian (Fredericks) Krantz. He was employed as a Toolsetter for many years at Scovill Mfg. and Frenchs Tube Mill in Waterbury. Donald loved music and played the banjo on the radio, as well as in his older years he began learning how to play the guitar and piano. He loved to fish and garden. His love of gardening is why he moved to Bethlehem, so he could have more land for his plants.
Besides his childhood sweetheart and wife of 73 years, Donald is survived by his seven children: Lillian (Krantz) Schulz of Bethlehem, F. Donald Krantz of Middlebury, Arlene (Krantz) Gilbert of Bethlehem, Richard Krantz of Becket MA, Douglas Krantz of Oakville, Wesley Krantz of China , and Loraine (Krantz) Chevalier of Watertown. He also leaves 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Krantz will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 1:00pm at the First Church of Bethlehem, 21 Main Street S, Bethlehem, CT 06751 There will be a reception immediately following in the church hall.
