WATERBURY - Faye Dolores Makarewich age 94, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Litchfield Woods Health Care Center in Torrington after an extended illness. She was the widow of Raymond Mattson and Albie Makarewich.
Faye was born April 13th 1924 in St. Albans, Maine, the daughter of the late Thomas and Vera "Sadie" (Holmes) Richards. Faye grew up in Brooks, Maine where she was educated in local schools until moving to Waterbury as a teenager. She then graduated from Wilby High School. Faye was a long time parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Church where she was a member of the Oasis Club. She enjoyed traveling overseas, taking walks in downtown Waterbury, and spending time with her family. What brought the greatest joy to Faye was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Among Faye's survivors are her sons; Charles Makarewich and his wife, Susan of Kent CT, Carl Makarewich of Bradenton, FL, her brother, Robert Hughes of Columbus Ohio, and her grandchildren; Joseph, Maryanne, Raymond Jr., Christopher, Catherine, and Corinne. In addition, she also leaves her great grandsons Henry and Graham. Faye is predeceased by her children; Raymond Mattson Jr., Martin Makarewich, and Marilyn Makarewich, her grandson, Michael Makarewich and her sister, Dorothy Taylor.
Services for Mrs. Makarewich will be held privately at the convenience of her family. There are no calling hours.
