WATERBURY CT - Florence "Cookie" (Drenkhahn) Caruso age 84 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at St. Marys Hospital on Monday, July 5, 2021 She was the widow of Carmine John Caruso who passed in 1991.
Florence was born in Bridgeport on April 27, 1937, the daughter of the late Carl and Florence (Marks) Drenkhahn. She was a graduate of Milford High School and spent 40 years as a floral designer in the greater Waterbury area working for Derouin's, Whalley's and Southbury Florist. Florence enjoyed traveling was an expert in all sorts of crafts and she looked forward to entertaining her family and friends especially at the holidays. She was fortunate to have had a very strong group of friends with whom she enjoyed many memorable times. But what was most important to Florence was her family, especially her grandchildren.
Florence was able to see the joy and opportunity that life gave her even during the most difficult of times. She enjoyed each and every day to the fullest and she made the world a better place for all of us. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her and we are most thankful to have had her in our lives.
Left to cherish her memory and honor her legacy are her children; Carmine Caruso and his husband, Douglas Flanders of Boise ID, Christine Simpson and her husband, David of Waterbury and Joseph Caruso and his wife, Jodie of West Greenwich RI as well as her brother, Carl and sister Alice. Florence was blessed with four grandchildren; Carissa Conway, Kristie Caruso, Jessica Caruso and Stephanie Dilger, three great grandchildren; Samuel Dilger, Tyler Conway and Victoria Dilger. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and close friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Caruso will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St @Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the Florence's family on Friday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
