Loving Wife, Mother, Daughter, and Sister

WATERTOWN – It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frances (Barnes) Hardy of Waterbury, CT, who fell asleep in death on April 6, 2025 surrounded by the love and comfort of her loving family at the age of 57.

Born on July 7, 1967, in Waterbury, CT, to Carlton Rhodes and Dorthy Trent. Frances has a long history of education. As a youth, she attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, and after graduating, she moved on to high school, attending Notre Dame Academy (an all-girls school ). For college, Frances attended Virginia State University. Once she returned home, she continued her education at Western State University in Danbury, CT, graduating with a bachelor's degree in accounting. Frances moved on and received her Master’s degree from the University of New Haven. Frances had a long career with the State of Connecticut’s Department of Labor, holding several positions within the department. She also was a member of a host of different organizations and committees within the community. One group she really cherished was being apart of LINKS Incorporated. Frances was an avid reader, joining and being a part of several book clubs and mentoring children in her free time. Frances loved spending time on the beach whenever she got the chance. At home she loved finding new recipes and cooking them for family members. She watched HGTV home design shows for decorating ideas and shared them with family. But from the beginning, Frances' foundation has always been God and family, which was her joy!

Frances is survived by her devoted husband of almost 29 years Danny Hardy, her beloved and cherished children, Blake Hardy, Cherrelle Hardy Neal (Alex). Her mother Dorthy Barnes Trent, older brother Tommy Barnes (Diana) of Richlands, North Carolina, sister Monica Dupree (Adrian), sister Meochie Rhodes, stepmother Mary Rhodes of Waterbury, CT. Mother in law Lillie Hardy, In law’s Annette Fountain, Dwayne Hardy of Middletown, Linda Cummings of New Britain, Lisa Shoecraft (Brain) of Delaware. Five Grandchildren and a host nieces and nephews and cousins. Frances was pre-deceased by her father, Carlton Rhodes and sister in law Stephanie Hardy.

The Hardy family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all those who have called, texted, stopped by and sent prayers up in our behalf, for that we thank you.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hardy will be held on Thursday, April 17th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Frances family at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the service commences at 11:00 a.m. Loving kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence or words of comfort or share a memory of someone important to you with your family and friends.
