Coventry, CT - Mr. Francis J. Baltmiskis, age 87, of Swamp Rd. Coventry and formerly of Middlebury, died Wednesday evening at St. Joseph's Living Center in Windham after a long illness. He was the husband of Joan L. (Hoban) Baltmiskis.
Mr. Baltmiskis was born on October 11, 1920 in Naugatuck CT the son of the late Walter and Sophie (Staskaskas) Baltmiskis. He was raised in Middlebury on the family farm working the farm on a daily basis. He attended a single room school in Southbury and then graduated from a trade school in Southbury specializing in machine operations. He was employed as a Foreman at Waterbury Farrell Foundry for 42 years be fore his retirement. His passion for farming and gardening continued throughout his lifetime given his upbringing. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He was a member of the Waterbury Farrell Bowling League.
Besides his wife of 56 years, Francis leaves three sons, Gary of Coventry CT, Gregory of Gig Harbor Washington and Francis Jr. of Charlotte NC and a daughter Lynn Wall of Lomita California. He also leaves 7 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren as well as 1 Niece and 1 Nephew.
Funeral Services for Mr. Baltmiskis will be held on Monday, February 25, 2008 at 9:00 AM from Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St, Waterbury, CT to SS Peter and Paul Church 56 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Family and Friends may visit the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM
