WATERTOWN - Mr. Francis J. "Cris" Stanevich, age 101 of Watertown, passed away on Thursday, March 17th 2016 in Vitas Innovative Health Care, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline (Aube) Stanevich of 52 years.
Mr. Stanevich was born November 25, 1914 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late Pranas and Ursula Skabeikis Stanevicius.
He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII and was a founding member of the VFW in Oakville. Francis was employed as a machinist and supervisor at Scovill Manufacturing Company of Waterbury, and was an avid golfer for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Laurent Stanevich and his wife Jill of Ann Arbor, Michigan, a daughter Regine Stanevich and her partner James Shoemaker of Texas, grandchildren Emmet and Jonah Stanevich and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may visit with the Stanevich family on Monday morning, March 21, 2016, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St., Oakville. The funeral procession will depart at 9:30 a.m. to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Rd., Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Lake Elise Cemetery in Middlebury.
