AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - Francis M. Wesley Sr. age 70 of Pittston, PA., formerly of Watertown, CT died March 9, 2010 at Hospice Community Care Geisinger-South after a brief illness. He was the husband of Katheren (Plourde) Wesley.
Francis was born September 13, 1939 in Taylor, PA, a son of the late Wesley M. and Minnie (Tisnel) Wesley and grew up in Pittston Pa. moving to and living in Watertown from 1962 until moving back to Pittston in 2005. He was educated in Pittston Schools. Prior to his retirement in 1999, he worked as a machinist at National Die in Wolcott, CT where he was employed for over 30 years. Francis proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1956 until his discharge in 1960 as a seaman aboard the USS Betelgeuse and was later transferred to the USS Pyro, serving in Japan. As a seaman, he crossed the Atlantic Ocean six times in two years. Francis was an avid New York Mets and Philadelphia Eagles fan and spent many years coaching Little League Baseball, Flag Football and Pee Wee football in Watertown.
Besides his wife of 45 years of Pittston, he leaves two sons; Francis M. Wesley and his wife Elaine of Rocky Hill, CT, Clinton Wesley and his wife Jenna of Southington, a nephew Michael Lombardo of Pittston, six grandchildren; Ashley, Ryan, Kristin, Vanessa, Shana and Sean Wesley and many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers Harold, Clinton and James Wesley and four sisters; Nancy DeLeo, Evelyn Lombardo, Minnie and Beadie Wesley.
Funeral services will be held on Monday March 15, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street Oakville, CT 06779, Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:30 p.m. until the service at 7:30 p.m. The O'Neill Funeral Home has been entrusted with his arrangements.
