Fred Marano

BAREFOOT BAY, FL Alfred "Fred" J. Marano, 94, of Barefoot Bay, FL formerly of Waterbury CT, passed away at the home of his daughter on April 29, 2013.

Mr. Marano was born June 21, 1918 in Waterbury, CT the son of the late Generoso and Francesca (Santulli). He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School in Waterbury and from Dickenson College in Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp and a retired engineer from Jacobs Manufacturing Co, West Hartford. He moved to Barefoot Bay, Fl, 28 years ago and was a communicant and Eucharist Minister at St. Luke's Parish in Barefoot Bay for 25 years. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, a member of the American Legion, Italian American Club of Barefoot Bay and Sebastian, Fl., and the New England Club of Barefoot Bay. He taught ballroom dancing in Barefoot Bay and also at the senior center in Sebastian, FL. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, painting and working with stain glass.

Fred is survived by his daughters, Terri (Hugh) Murphy of Barefoot Bay, FL and Plainville, CT and Sandy Sheehan of Sebastian, FL and Newport, RI. , 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Marye.

Funeral services for Mr. Marano will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10:30 am from Eastside Memorial, A CASEY FAMILY FUNERAL HOME AND TRIBUTE CENTER, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd, Waterbury to Our Lady of Lourdes Church to Celebrate the Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Rites of Committal and Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury with full military honors. Relatives and friends may visit with Fred's family at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Knights of Columbus, St Joseph Council 7408, c/o Patrick Farrelly, Grand Knight, 2029 Redwood Circle NE, Palm Bay, FL 32905.
