OAKVILLE - Gary Robert Hathaway age 48 of Oakville passed away peacefully at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital, with his beloved wife by his side on Wednesday September 27th 2016. He was the husband of Mary "Kate" (Coretto) Hathaway.
Gary was born October 14th 1967 in New Haven, Connecticut, the son of the late William Robert Hathaway and Lorraine (Weiden) Hathaway of Seymour. He was a graduate of Seymour High School Class of 1986 and went on to earn an aviation license from the Connecticut School of Electronics. Gary spent the last 23 years working as an Aviation Mechanic at Helicopter Support Inc., now Lockheed Martin, Sikorsky in Trumbull. He enjoyed watching and supporting his children's sports teams, and recital performances. He could always be found doing things around the house and yard but was always happiest when spending time with his family. He also always appreciated times spent with his neighbors, co-workers and friends.
Besides his devoted wife of 16 years, "Kate" and his mother, Lorraine, Gary is survived by his daughter, Amanda Deschenes; sons, Joshua and Brian Hathaway all of Oakville; his sister, Cheryl Goggins and her husband David of Ansonia and their children, Sean and Jessica Goggins; his sister, Debra Baxter and her daughter, Hayley Hathaway of Seymour as well as his beloved, in-laws, Charles and Joyce Coretto Sr. of Waterbury; Charles Coretto Jr of Waterbury; Richard and Margaret Smith of Prospect; Jeremy Schreiner of Southbury as well as his many other extended relatives, neighbors and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Hathaway will be held on Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church 182 Robbins St Waterbury, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am with the Reverend Roberto McCarthy officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Friend and relatives may visit with Gary's family on Friday evening from 5:00 ~ 8:00pm at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury.
