WATERTOWN - Mrs. Genevieve Calgie (Ryan) Williams age 92 of Watertown, entered Eternal Life on September 28th 2016 at Apple Rehabilitation Center in Watertown after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Edwin "Ned" Wheeler Williams the former Chief Inspector of the Watertown Police Department and Veteran of the Watertown Fire Department.
Genevieve was born on April 8, 1924 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Watertown Constable Edward F. Ryan Sr. and Augusta Schlang Ryan. She was a lifelong resident of the Town of Watertown a graduate of St. John the Evangelist School and Watertown High School and had dedicated her life to her family as a loving and devoted homemaker. Prior to her marriage she worked as a Telephone Operator for SNET as well as Waterbury Tool during World War II. She was a long standing member of St. John the Evangelist Church's Catholic Woman's Organization in Watertown.
Besides her Husband Ned of 67 years, Genevieve is survived by her Son, Edwin Williams Jr., and his wife, Nina of Lawrenceville, GA., Daughters, Rebecca Williams Fenn, and her husband, Paul of New Bern, NC., and Diane Williams Andrew, and her husband, Jon of Watertown, 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Genevieve's family includes her 85 year friendship with Florence DeLand Werenko and deceased husband, John Werenko of Albuquerque, NM.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her Son, Roderick "Rod" Ryan Williams, her brother, Edward Francis Ryan Jr., and sister, Dorothy Ryan Hearn.
The Williams Family extends their deepest appreciation and gratitude to all who lovingly and gently cared for Genevieve at Apple Rehabilitation Center as well as her Hospice Nurse, Sam.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Williams on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Rd., Waterbury, CT, followed by burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown . Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church.
