AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - Waterbury CT - George S. Dragon Sr., age 96, of Alma St. Waterbury, died peacefully on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was the widower of Helen (Spellman) Dragon.
Mr. Dragon was born on February 10, 1915, in Lee Massachusetts, the son of the late George & Jane Melius Dragon. He grew up in the Waterbury area and worked as a toolmaker for Eyelet Tool Design for many years before his retirement. George loved to spend time outdoors and especially enjoyed camping at Hammonassett State Park. He also enjoyed fishing, skiing, golfing, bowling and working in his garden. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sheriden Council, the East Mountain Golf League and the Gray Fox League. He was a longtime parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Church.
Among his survivors are his son, Robert C. Dragon and his wife Patricia of Durham CT. his grandchildren, George III, Heather and Christopher and his great grandson, Bailey. He is pre-deceased by a son, George S, Dragon Jr.., his brother, Charles Dragon, and his sisters Olive and Florence as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services Mr. Dragon will be held on Tuesday, March 8th at 9:30am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St Waterbury to Saints Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Garden Mausoleum . Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 - 8:00pm.
