THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF GEORGE R. KULIKAUSKAS.
OAKVILLE - George R. Kulikauskas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Waterbury Hospital.
George, or Pop as we called him, was born on November 28, 1931, the son of the late Vincent and Martha Kulikauskas. The youngest of eight children, he spent his childhood in Oakville on the family's farm. He would eventually return to the family homestead to live out his final years. As a young adult, Pop moved to Colorado where he spent the next two and a half decades. Returning East at long last, he brought with him a certain cowboy swagger, a trait that he fiercely held on to for the rest of his life. We are forever grateful for the vacations spent at the camp in New Brunswick, the afternoons of fishing, his 'Pop-isms", the colorful stories about his childhood at the Lazy K Ranch in Oakville, and of his time out West. As he watched his four grandchildren grow, the pride in their achievements would make "his buttons pop." More recently as he slowed down, the weekly phone calls with his granddaughters on Friday nights at 7pm meant the world to him. The story of George's life includes the quest for redemption and getting things right. In the process, we learned to never underestimate the power of forgiveness. We wished we had saved one of his voicemails because they were always the same and will make us smile forever: "Hi, this is the old man, give me a jingle if you can. Over and out." Rest easy, Pop. You got it right.
Left to honor George's legacy and treasure his memory are his son, George V. Kulikauskas and his wife, Kristina of Watertown, his daughter, Patricia LaFrance and her husband, Dave of Pomfret Center, as well as his grandchildren, Phillip Larrow and his wife Iva, Jack Larrow and his wife Krista, Michelle Kulikauskas and her fiancée Greg Mendoza, and Haley Kulikauskas and her husband Neal Raval. George is also survived by his sister, Alice Kulikauskas of Oakville with whom he lived, and several nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by his siblings Vinnie, Theresa, Evelyn, John, Joey, and Nellie, as well as a nephew, Walter Butkus. The family would like to thank the staff at Waterbury Hospital for their compassion during George's final days.
