AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME IN OAKVILLE CT: George W. Pierce, age 72, of Faber Ave. Waterbury, died Tuesday at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Christine (Huber) Pierce.

George was born January 1, 1936, the son of the late Louis and Anna (McKenna) Pierce. He was a lifelong resident of Waterbury, a graduate of Sacred Heart High School Class of 1954 and was a Veteran of the US Navy, where he proudly served his country aboard the USS Wyandot from 1955 ?" 1959. He was a distinguished Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service for over 33 years and following his retirement, he was a parts delivery person for NAPA in Watertown for several years. George was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, Notre Dame Football and the NFL and an avid setback player. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Loreto Church.

Besides his loving wife of 46 years, George leaves a son, Kevin and his wife Lisa of Thomaston, three daughters; Deborah April and her husband, Adam of Thomaston, Pamela Pinto and her husband, Edward of Bristol and Karen Pierce and her life partner, John Golymbieski of Oakville. His son, Keith Edward Pierce is deceased. He also leaves two sisters, his twin sister, Joan Pescetelli and her husband Alvin of Waterbury and Maryanne Robbins of Norwood NJ and a brother Edward Pierce and his wife, June of Redding. He leaves twelve loving grandchildren, Keith, Eric, Shannon, Victoria, Jessica, Chelsey, Chad, Chet, Samantha, Sean, Heather, and James and 8 nieces and nephews, Diane, Nancy, Paul, Mark, David, Cheryl, Susan and Patricia.

Funeral services for Mr. Pierce will be held on Friday, October 17, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at Our Lady of Loreto Church, Ardsley Rd. Waterbury at 11:00am. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Family and friends may visit at the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street Oakville on Thursday evening from 4-8pm.
