DEDICATED HUSBAND & FATHER
MIDDLEBURY - George Charles Robinson, age 90 of Middlebury, passed away peacefully at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St Mary's Hospital on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 after an extended illness. He was the widower of Rita (Shea) Robinson and the devoted husband of Nancy (McKenna) Robinson of 47 years.
George was born on July 29, 1927 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late George and Marie (Shea) Robinson. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy immediately after high school. He proudly served his country aboard the USS Portsmouth VA CL102 and the USS Rumels APD85. George began his career at Chase Brass & Copper and worked for many years as Sales Manager at United Aluminum and Olin Corp. George was an avid sports fan, especially the NY Yankees and he loved traveling with his family, especially to Maine. He had a wonderful sense of humor which he passed along to his children and grandchildren and always took a keen interest in other's lives. What was most important to George was his family, spending as much time as he could with his daughters and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Besides his wife Nancy, he leaves his daughters, Audrey Corbin and her husband Robert of Oakville and Betsy Hopkins and her husband, Stephen of Mt Pleasant SC. as well as his adoring grandchildren; Katie, Connor, Monica, James and Nora. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald G. Robinson.
Funeral services for Mr. Robinson will be private and held at the convenience of his family. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.
