GEORGE L. SMITH
WOODBURY- George L. Smith age 87 of Woodbury died early Sunday morning during Hospice care in Watertown. He was the husband of Hope (Brittain) Smith for 66 years before her passing in April of 2007.
George was born December 17, 1919 in Holyoke, MA one of twelve children to Ernest and Maude Smith. He lived in Easton, PA for 26 years before moving to Mooers, NY in 1973. Following his retirement in from Harris Innertype in 1983, George moved with his wife and their daughter Christine to Woodbury. He was a member of the Masonic Fraternal Lodge No. 237 in Champlain, NY and was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Oakville. George proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army during WWII.
He leaves a daughter Barbara O'Brien of Watertown and grandchildren Erin Bennett of Cheshire, Colin O'Brien of Canton, and a daughter Christine Smith of Woodbury.
Family and friends may gather on Wednesday April 23 at All Saints Episcopal Church, Oakville for a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to All Saints Episcopal Church, 262 Main Street, P.O.
