Waterbury - Mr. Gerald E. Desnoyers, 89, of Split Rock Dr Waterbury, died peacefully Friday, September 23rd at the Paradigm Health Care Center of Prospect with his loving wife at his side. He was the husband of Margaret (Voghel) Desnoyers.

Mr. Desnoyers was born October 24th 1921 in St. Pie, PQ Canada, the son of the late Joseph and Olympe (Tremblay) Desnoyers. He proudly served his country with the US Army during WWII and was awarded the American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. Jerry was a firefighter with the Waterbury Fire Department for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was very active in the Waterbury community volunteering for various organizations including Waterbury Hospital and the Saint Vincent DePaul Society. Jerry enjoyed helping others and was a car enthusiast. He was a parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Church.

Besides his wife Margaret of 62 years, he is survived by several nieces, and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his brother, Lambert Desnoyers and his sister Frances (Desnoyers) Duncan.

Mrs. Desnoyers would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Paradigm Health Care Center of Prospect for the special care and attention they provided to Jerry during his stay.

Funeral services for Mr. Desnoyers will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30am at SS Peter & Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury, Those planning on attending are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery Watertown. There are no calling hours. The Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Desnoyers memory may be made to Saints Peter and Paul Church, 56 Southmayd Rd Waterbury, CT 06705.
