Gerry was born on January 20, 1944 in Waterbury, the son of the late James and Kathleen (Brown) Johnston. He attended local schools and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army enlisting shortly after high school but was never deployed to Vietnam, as his father passed away shortly after enlistment. Gerry was a lifelong parishioner and volunteer at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and his faith was his guiding light. He was an avid sports fan of especially the NY Yankees and NY Giants. Gerry was exceptional in every way, but he excelled the most at being a devoted husband, father and especially grandfather. He instilled in his children a strong work ethic and the importance of family. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
