WATERBURY – Gerard (Jerry) F. McHale, Jr., age 79, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Waterbury Hospital ICU surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
Gerard “Jerry” was born November 7, 1944, the son of the late Gerard F. and Virginia (Lynch) McHale. Jerry was a Waterbury resident, graduated from Croft High School and then proudly served his country with the United States Navy. Upon being honorably discharged, Jerry worked several positions while earning his Associate’s Degree at Mattatuck Community Technical College. He was a proud and dedicated employee of Timex Corporation for 33 years. Jerry was happiest spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing golf with his buddies weekly. He was an avid New York Giants fan, history and political science buff and a coffee-drinking enthusiast. He had a deep appreciation for architecture, music and the arts. Jerry was an excellent cook and baker. Above all, Jerry was a selfless, generous, loving man. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to remember, cherish and honor Jerry's memory are his children Michael McHale and his wife, Erika, of San Diego, California, his loving daughter, Stacey (McHale) Cafiero and her husband, Robert, of Southington, Connecticut and Barbara Giordano McHale, who is the mother of his children. In addition, Jerry is survived by his sister, Marlene McHale Reichard and her husband Jeff of North Port, Florida, his grandchildren, Chase and Jake Cafiero and Allie McHale and Sophia Meyers, and many nieces, nephews, and his dear friend Carol Albini. Jerry was predeceased by his brother, James Gilland, and his loving aunt and uncle, Elaine and James Gilland.
Funeral Services for Mr. McHale will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Road Waterbury, all those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. There are no calling hours. Loving kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence or words of comfort or share a memory of someone important to you with their family and friends.
