AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - WTBY - WOLCOTT - Gerard "Jerry" Rigsby, age 67, of Wolf Hill Rd Wolcott, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at home after an extended illness, with his devoted wife Janet and his family by his side. He was the husband of Janet (Carroll) Rigsby.
Jerry was born on June 27, 1943 in Brooklyn NY, the son of the late Gerard Milton and Muriel (Tracy) Rigsby and step son of the late William O'Neill. Jerry was raised in Bayside Queens, a graduate of Bayside High School where he was a stand-out, MVP athlete. He enlisted in the US Navy after high school and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a self-employed Salesman for the Tobacco Industry for many years prior to his illness. Jerry was especially proud of his Irish heritage. He was an avid sports fan, especially basketball. Most of all he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed and greatly cherished.
Besides his wife of 18 years, Jerry leaves two sons, Sean Patrick Rigsby and his wife Elizabeth of Kensington CT and Michael P. Rigsby and his wife Syliva of Bristol CT, a sister, Irene Whalen of Florida, four stepdaughters, Jeanne Marie Cronin of Tewksbury MA, Cheryl Elizabeth Germino of Wakefield MA, Leanne Carroll Willett of Wilmington MA and Mary Catherine Hughes of Malden MA. He also leaves 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Rigsby will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 9:00am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main Street, Waterbury CT. to St Pius X Church, Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Wolcott. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 till 7:00pm.
