WATERBURY - Mrs. Gertrude "Gert" (Ouellette) Pryor, age 79 of Waterbury, died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the devoted wife of Arthur Pryor.
Gert was born in Waterbury, CT on March 23, 1935, the daughter of the late Rosario and Antoinette (Heroux) Ouellette. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grammar School and High School and was employed for many years in the Billing Office at Campion Ambulance Service. Gert and her husband enjoyed spending winters in Florida and she always enjoyed her Thursday evening card club. Gert was a longtime member of SS Peter & Paul Church where she was a member of their Madonna Guild and the Home & School Association. Without question, her priority in her life was her family, traveling all over the country to visit and spend time with her children, grandchildren and great granddaughter, whenever possible.
Besides her husband of 59 years, Gert leaves her children, Denise Sturges and her husband Howard of Middlebury, Michael and his wife Cindy of Atlanta GA, Stephen and his wife Karen of Cheshire, David and his wife Cathy of Atlanta GA and Brian and his wife Ann Marie of Newark DE. She also leaves her brother Rev. Richard T. Ouellette MM of Monrovia CA, her sisters, Rachel Mitchell of Melbourne FL and Claire DeBellis of Upland CA. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Rudy, Susan, Kelly, Kevin, Brittany, Amanda, Nicholas, Cassandra, Jaime, Brett, Maggie and Andrew and her great granddaughter, Amelie. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters, Sr. Blanche Ouellette RSM, Dorothy Casey and her brother, Thomas Ouellette.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pryor will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 10:30am when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS Peter & Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. Those planning to attend should go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Gert's family at Eastside Memorial " A Casey Family Funeral Home & Tribute Center" 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. on Tuesday from 4:00 till 7:00 pm.
