“Enjoyed a life well lived"
WATERTOWN – Gertrude (Davidson) Morin, age 103, of Watertown, passed away peacefully at Waterbury Extended Care, on Friday, September 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Henry Morin.
Gertrude was born on November 14, 1920, in Waterbury, Connecticut the daughter of the late Harry and Lena (Atwood) Davidson. She was known to many as “Betty White”. Gertrude worked as a Quality Control Inspector at Scovill Manufacturing in Oakville, Ct and at GEM Manufacturing in Waterbury, CT until she retired at the age of 85. Throughout her life, she found joy in the simple pleasures, spending time in the tranquility of her garden and the challenge of puzzles. Gertrude will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to love and know her.
Left to honor her legacy and memory is her daughter Barbara Krayeske and her husband William with whom she made her home. She also leaves her beloved grandson Thomas Krayeske and his wife Deborah, along with her great grandchildren; Colin and Sarah. Besides her husband Gertrude was predeceased by her brothers; Harry, Louis, Wilfred, and George Davidson and her sisters; Anna Dunne, Ruth Dunne, and Irene Soden.
The family would like to thank her care givers; Julia, Michele, Mia, Linda, Vicky and the nurses at Apple Rehabilitation Trish and Christina for all of the compassionate care and love they shared with Gertrude and her family. A special thank you to her walking buddies; Jim, Doug, Leah, Duffy, Dunkin, and her comfort dog, Bella.
Funeral services for Mrs. Morin will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Disciples Parish, St John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St., Watertown. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. There are no calling hours. The Casey-O’Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St., Oakville has been honored to care for Gertrude and her family during this difficult time. To honor Gertrude’s memory and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Watertown Food Bank, 61 Echo Lake Road, Watertown, CT 06795.
