THE CASEY FAMILY IS PRIVILEGED TO REMEMBER AND HONOR THE LIFE OF GIUSEPPA (VALENTI) COCCHIOLA

MIDDLETOWN- Giuseppa (Valenti) Cocchiola, 77, of Middletown, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 2, 2022, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. On that day, she formally became what her friends and family already knew; a guardian angel.

She was born on January 27, 1945 in Solarino, Sicilia, Italy, daughter of the late Sebastiano Valenti and Vincenza (Fazzino) Valenti. She was the proud small business owner of Custom Draperies by Josephine, a published author in the "Cooking with Nonna" cookbook series, and most importantly a child of God. Her family fondly remembers her late-night cooking for their friends, having the cleanest house imaginable, and having never met a stranger in her life.

While accomplished in her cooking and sewing, Giuseppa was most outspoken about her love and pride for her family. Her most dedicated roles in life were Mother, Wife, Nonna, Sister, Daughter and Zizi. She lived life to the fullest blessed by her faith, family and friends.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her loving husband of 59 years, Rocco Cocchiola; her son, Carmen Cocchiola and partner, Sarah Teachout, her daughter, Roseann Chase and her husband, Christopher. She was blessed with her beloved grandchildren; Olivia (Cocchiola) and Michael Cornwell; Morgan (Chase) and Dan Snogans, Robert Cocchiola, Lauren (Chase) and Sean Husk. She will be missed greatly by her brother, Vincenzo Valenti and his wife, Anna; her sister-in-law, Maria Valenti, Grace Cocchiola and her husband Armando, Michael Cocchiola and his wife Grace, and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Cesareo Valenti.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cocchiola will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary Mother of The Church Parish, Saints Peter and Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd., Waterbury.
